YOUNIB TV, a project of the Catholic YOUNIB (Youth Network for Interreligious Brotherhood), recently participated in a four-day meeting of Catholic TV directors from Africa, organized by the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa (AMECEA) in partnership with Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) and Buena Nueva Comunicación (BNC), and with the Dicastery of Communication in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting, themed “Strengthening Catholic Television for Evangelization and Collaboration in Africa,” brought together directors of Catholic-owned TV stations to share hopes and challenges, particularly on the future of traditional TV and streaming services in the digital era. The event provided an opportunity for participants to receive insights from the Vatican Dicastery for Communication on trends in communication and the mission of the Church.

The meeting explored possible avenues for sharing content, exchanging ideas, and considering the development of a continental framework for television programming in Africa. This initiative aims to strengthen collaboration and networking among Catholic broadcasters and communication coordinators in Africa, ultimately promoting the evangelization mission of the Church.
YOUNIB TV’s participation in this meeting reflects its commitment to using media as a tool for evangelization and promoting interreligious brotherhood among young people. The experience was enriching and fulfilling, with lots of positive collaboration, and is expected to enhance YOUNIB TV’s mission to inspire, educate, and empower young people in Africa.
