As Kenya navigates the complexities of a rapidly changing world, the country’s youngest citizens – Gen-Z – are facing unique challenges that threaten their future. From climate change and economic inequality to social media-driven anxiety and political polarization, Gen-Z is growing up in a world that is increasingly uncertain and volatile.

But despite these challenges, Gen-Z is also a generation that is uniquely equipped to drive positive change. Born into a world of rapid technological advancements and social connectivity, Gen-Z is a generation that is inherently collaborative, creative, and committed to making a difference.

That’s why YOUNIB Organization’s recent meeting with a group of Gen-Z young people in Utawala, Kenya, was so timely and important. The meeting brought together young people from diverse backgrounds to discuss the role of Gen-Z in promoting peace, peacekeeping, and reconciliation in Kenya.

During the meeting, the young people shared their concerns about the current state of affairs in Kenya, from the rising tide of violence and extremism to the erosion of trust in institutions and leaders. But they also shared their ideas and aspirations for creating a more peaceful and just society.

YOUNIB Organization encouraged the young people to take ownership of their role in promoting peace and reconciliation, and to use their unique skills and talents to drive positive change. The organization also emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership between Gen-Z, community leaders, and authorities to promote peace and stability.

As Kenya looks to the future, it is clear that Gen-Z will play a critical role in shaping the country’s destiny. By empowering and supporting Gen-Z to become peacebuilders, we can help to create a more just, peaceful, and prosperous future for all Kenyans.
